Professor of Mathematics, University of Oxford
Diana Brown Tutorial Fellow, Somerville College

I grew up in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where I attended the Tiberiu Popoviciu High School ("Informatica") and Babes-Bolyai University.
I received a Ph.D. in Mathematics (2004) from Cornell University, under the supervision of Dan Barbasch, with a thesis on spherical unitary representations of split exceptional p-adic groups. Between 2004-2007, I was a Moore Instructor at M.I.T., and then an Assistant, later Associate, Professor at University of Utah. I joined the Oxford Maths Institute and Somerville College in 2014 as an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Tutorial Fellow. In 2017, I was awarded the title of Professor of Mathematics.
